IVA (Individual Vehicle Approval) and ESVA (Enhanced Single Vehicle Approval) are compliance tests that are part of current whole vehicle type approval and are required for individuals and trade businesses alike who are intending to sell or import vehicles into the UK from outside Europe (e.g. Japan, Australia), or even those UK vehicles with missing identities. Millbrook is one of very few organisations who hold a VCA technical service accreditation to conduct all types of tests for IVA and ESVA approval.
The actual tests required for IVA and ESVA are determined by VOSA from information on the import vehicle de-registration document. This document will detail the various legal standards that the vehicle complies with in the country of original registration.
The object of ESVA is to ensure that any vehicle imported into the UK is fully compliant with EC Standards by the following methods:
- Demonstration of equivalence of Standards between countries
- Actual comparison of components with an EC specification vehicle
- Testing to the EC Standards to verify compliance
Once VOSA has informed the potential importer of the exact test requirements for their individual vehicle, Millbrook will make a booking to run those tests to all current legal standards.
For comparison tests a European approved vehicle would need to be supplied. If a suitable vehicle is not available, Millbrook has full Vehicle Certification Agency accreditation to carry out any approval tests that may be required.
Millbrook can be considered a 'One-Stop' option for all IVA or ESVA testing requirements. We can accommodate all sizes of two, and four wheel drive vehicles, on a single import basis or as larger import volumes.
