Induction

It is important that all new starters feel welcome and comfortable from their first day.

Millbrook offers a comprehensive induction plan, including presentations from senior managers across the business, training and for those who need full site access, driver training including skid car training.

Every new employee is invited to a fully expensed lunch on their first day with their line manager or colleague.

Employees are encouraged to attend social events on site such as Radio Control Cars Club, Five-a-Side Football and running and bike clubs.

A 5k course across Millbrook’s off road tracks and sand dunes is used annually at an event called the MAD 5K. Participants get to race colleagues and visitors from outside the organisation.

Training, Development and Accreditation

People are Millbrook’s most important asset and development and training are fundamental to business success. Millbrook tailor individual development plans; for staff wishing to progress within the business, High Potential or Succession Plans are created.

Learning can be gained through a variety of routes. This may be in the form of internal or external training, development workshops, coaching/mentoring and job shadowing. To help measure progress, objectives are agreed and regular reviews are undertaken, providing the employee with the opportunity to evaluate their own performance.

Millbrook is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. In most cases the Monitored Professional Development Scheme (MPDS) will be the appropriate route for accreditation. Millbrook meet the costs of professional membership during and after accreditation has been awarded and support employee accreditation by assigning a professionally registered mentor.

Managers are encouraged to recognise and reward employees through verbal encouragement, written notes or other appropriate means, for going above and beyond their duties in helping an internal or external customer while demonstrating any of Millbrook’s cultural behaviours.

Rewards are given to employees for attaining quantifiable results related to improvement or growth of the business, while demonstrating any of Millbrook’s cultural behaviours.
