Calibration Engineer - Powertrain ETC

Location: Millbrook, Bedfordshire

Job Summary

An opportunity has become available for a Calibration Engineer to join the Powertrain ETC within Millbrook. The successful candidate will become the technical lead of customer programmes and/or vehicle calibration development. This will primarily be focussed on gasoline and diesel, but could involve alternative fuelled and hybrid powertrain systems.

In addition, the Calibration Engineer will provide technical support to customers, business development, engineers and technicians whilst working on their own programmes.

Role Responsibilities

  • Deliver turn-key calibration projects for a variety of customers
  • Lead powertrain development projects for base engine calibration, emissions, fuel economy, performance, climatic testing, etc.
  • Create calibrations with documentation and written reports
  • Create test plans to meet Millbrook and customer requirements
  • Analysing data and presenting results to customers
  • Work with customers to meet their goals
  • Identify faults and problems together with effective solutions
  • Provide technical support to customers and business development
  • Provide guidance to Engineers and Technicians
  • Project management
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours for Millbrook staff at all times

Essential Criteria

Qualifications
  • Appropriate Engineering Degree
Experience
  • Experienced in technically leading calibration development projects
Skills
  • Excellent knowledge of powertrain systems and sub-systems
  • Good knowledge of Bosch EMSs (others would be useful)
  • Good knowledge of developing engine management systems and testing techniques
  • Experience in calibrating torque-based control systems (gasoline and diesel) including emissions and climate development
  • Ability to use model-based calibration tools e.g. Cameo, ASCMO, etc.
  • Experienced user of analytical software tools to handle large volumes of data
  • Ability to understand, interpret and evaluate numerical data
  • Knowledge of Modelling and Simulation techniques
  • Knowledge of coding/programming languages
  • Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems
  • Skilled in statistical testing techniques i.e. Design of Experiments (DoE)
  • Complete work in a safe, timely and professional manner with the minimum of supervision
  • Flexibility to undertake additional task to meet business requirements
  • Highly motivated, keen to learn and share knowledge
