Crash Test Engineer - Safety

Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Crash Test Engineer, working within the Safety team at Millbrook. We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible individuals with either experience in vehicle safety testing or those with a mechanical background and a desire to develop their career in this specialist area of our business. The successful candidate will be responsible for working in collaboration with our customers and/or witnessing authorities to establish testing requirements. In addition, the role holder will prepare, execute and report on full scale crash tests, and advise the customer on test methods and processes.

Role Responsibilities

  • Establish test content including review and inclusion of any regulatory requirements
  • Provide costing information for quote preparation
  • Prepare internal test execution documentation and liaise with customer and internal operations group
  • Responsibility for correct and complete execution of test to the satisfaction of the customer and any relevant legal or quality standards
  • Test data approval to the requirements of SAE J211 or similar
  • Preparation of test reports and/or customer data packs
  • Support and generate continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support business development activities
  • Carry out vehicle measurements on behalf of the customer (3D digital measurement)
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours for Millbrook staff at all times

Essential Criteria

Qualifications
  • Degree or similar in an Engineering discipline
Experience
  • Experience in testing to European/Federal regulations and also consumer test protocols considered - desirable
  • Working in an ISO 17025 environment
Skills
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical principles associated with vehicle safety testing - essential
  • Excellent oral and written communicator
  • IT literate
  • Knowledge of high speed data and video capture considered an advantage

  • Full UK driving license

Working Environment: Office/Workshop/Lab

Travel Required: Travel as required within the UK and mainland Europe
