Engineer - Component Test Lab

Location: Millbrook, Bedfordshire
Shift Pattern: Days (40hrs)

Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for an Engineer to join the Component Test Lab (CTL) at Millbrook. The successful role holder will be responsible for all aspects of component testing on a variety of projects, including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and general fabrication work.

Role Responsibilities

  • Customer liaison for test support, reporting test progress to stakeholders
  • Follow test procedures and fully understand the test requirements and communicate clearly with others
  • Coordinate and supervise test and lab activities working with engineers and technicians
  • Write risk assessments for tests
  • Rig design and preparation using CAD packages
  • Programmes for test equipment including; PLC, Chambers and shakers
  • Ensuring that tests are running correctly and to timing plan
  • Validate data and investigate sources of errors, writing final test report or data pack
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours for Millbrook staff at all times

Essential Criteria

Qualifications

  • Qualified to bachelor degree or similar
  • Maths, English and Science minimum C grade GCSE (preferred) 

Experience

  • Vibration and climatic testing equipment
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Component test background
  • Experience with road load data
  • Automated systems and PLC’s
  • Customer service skills
  • Report writing

Skills

  • Managing multiple tasks
  • Training and mentoring undergraduate engineers
  • Provide support to lab activities
  • Ability to use test facilities
  • Data handling
  • Engineering judgement regarding test quality
