Mechanical Technician Full Scale Crash - Safety Group

Location: Millbrook, Bedfordshire

Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Technician to join the Safety Group (Full Scale Crash) team, reporting to the Manager of Crash Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for mechanically preparing vehicles for crash testing and full scale crash execution.

Role Responsibilities

  • Prepare vehicles for crash tests to customer requirements
  • Manufacture frameworks and brackets for high speed cameras and data acquisition
  • Mechanical fitting of brackets for onboard cameras
  • Liaise with Millbrook crash engineer
  • Liaise with customers
  • Full scale crash execution
  • Work from procedures
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours for Millbrook staff at all times

Essential Criteria

Qualifications

  • Craft or technician apprenticeship
  • City & Guilds – Mechanical or Vehicle Engineering (preferred)
  • Relevant experience will be taken into consideration

Experience

  • Experience in a vehicle workshop setting
  • Welding and fabricating
  • Technician role in a mechanical test setting

Skills

  • Robust mechanical fitting skills
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Ability to follow written procedures

Personal Behaviours

  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Good team player
  • Good communication skills

Other

  • Flexibility to travel as and when required
  • Full UK driving license
  • Willing to undergo a Criminal Disclosure check
