Propulsion Engineer

Location: Millbrook, Bedfordshire

Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for an Engineer to join the Powertrain Engine Test Centre at Millbrook. The successful candidate will be responsible for customer engine test programmes, from running the tests through to gathering the data and generating test reports.


Role Responsibilities

  • Ensure all H&S and quality procedures have been adhered to
  • Run customer engine test programs with high levels of efficiency
  • Generate engine installation packs and schematics for accurate test bed setups
  • Identify engine faults and lead effective solutions
  • Processing and validation of engine test data to a high standard
  • Analysing engine data and understanding correct trends
  • Generate test reports tailored to specific customer requirements
  • Track project efficiency and maintain project related invoicing
  • Deliver engine fuels testing projects for a variety of customers
  • Work well within a team environment
  • Develop initiatives to reduce waste and optimise efficiency
  • Develop best working practises and provide training to technicians
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours for Millbrook staff at all times



  • Automotive/Mechanical Engineering Degree or HND with relevant experience


  • Engine validation exposure, including engine management systems.
  • Good understanding of gasoline and diesel engine mechanical fundamentals


  • Project and time management
  • Organised with good communication skills
  • Technical competence with a methodical approach
  • Understanding of complex engines, testing techniques and associated equipment and tools
  • A strong background in the use of engine test cell equipment & software including engine dynos, instrumentation and calibration tools
  • Skills in electronic, electrical and mechanical engine diagnostics
  • Strong IT skills especially MS Excel
  • Good understanding of H&S practices
