Senior Engineer - Crash Safety

Location: Millbrook, Bedfordshire

Job Summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Engineer to join the Safety group at Millbrook, specialising in Crash Test. The successful role holder will be responsible for liaising with the customer and/or witnessing authority to establish testing requirements. The Senior Engineer will also prepare, execute and report on full scale crash tests whilst advising customers on test methods and processes.

Role Responsibilities

  • Establish test content including review and inclusion of any regulatory requirements
  • Provide costing information for quote preparation
  • Prepare internal test execution documentation and liaise with customer and internal operations group
  • Responsibility for correct and complete execution of tests to the satisfaction of the customer and any relevant legal or quality standards 
  • Test data approval to the requirements of SAE J211 or similar
  • Preparation of test reports and/or customer data packs
  • Support and generate continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support business development activities
  • Project manage/design bespoke test methods to meet customer’s needs
  • Liaise with various customers on and offsite.
  • Support the finance and business development team
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours for Millbrook staff at all times
  • Pre and post test vehicle measurements, determination of results

Essential Criteria

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant Engineering subject (Mechanical or Automotive preferred)

Experience

  • Experience in testing to European/Federal regulations and consumer test protocols considered essential
  • Knowledge of quality assurance (particularly ISO 9001, 14001 and 17025) is required

Skills

  • Sound knowledge of mechanical principles associate with vehicle safety testing
  • Excellent oral and written communicator
  • IT literate
  • An understanding of human injury levels and the limitations of dummy instrumentation
  • Knowledge of high speed data and video capture considered an advantage
