Senior Engineer – Engine Test Propulsion

Job Summary

Reporting to - Manager – ETC Engineering Team

Role Responsibilities

  • Ensure all H&S and quality procedures have been adhered to
  • Run customer engine test programs with high levels of efficiency
  • Work with Principal Engineer to Deliver ‘Performance & Economy’ development projects
  • Generate engine installation packs and schematics for accurate test bed setups
  • Identify engine faults and lead effective solutions
  • Process and validate engine test data to a high standard
  • Analyse and present data and results to customers and peers
  • Generate test reports tailored to specific customer requirements
  • Provide technical support to customers and business development
  • Track project efficiency and maintain project related invoicing
  • Work well within a team environment
  • Develop initiatives to reduce waste and optimise efficiency
  • Develop best working practises and provide training to others
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours for Millbrook staff at all times

Criteria

Qualifications

  • Automotive/Mechanical Engineering Degree or HND plus relevant experience

 

Experience

 

  • Must have a large breadth of experience in an automotive engineering discipline with a focus on mechanical engine attributes
  • Experience with engine development testing techniques and methodology
  • Strong understanding of gasoline and diesel engine mechanical fundamentals
  • Proven exposure to gasoline and diesel ECM controls

Skills

  • Project Management
  • Organised with good communication skills
  • High level of technical competence with a methodical approach
  • Understanding of complex engines, testing techniques and associated equipment and tools
  • A strong background in the use of engine test cell equipment software including emissions measurement, combustion analysis and calibration tools
  • Skills in electronic, electrical and mechanical engine diagnostics
  • Strong IT skills especially MS Excel
  • Good understanding of H&S practices
