Technician - Special Vehicles

Location: Millbrook, Bedfordshire
Shift Pattern: Days (40hrs)

Job Summary

We have a number of opportunities available for Technicians to join the Special Vehicles Group at Millbrook. The successful role holders will be responsible for the process of vehicle conversions, including the stripping, modification and rebuilding of the vehicles to at least the same standard as the base vehicle.

Role Responsibilities

  • Remove / replace and fit bespoke mechanical/electrical/trim components and modify vehicle bodywork in line with the guidance provided to the designated quality standard
  • Work with the Technician Supervisor to improve efficiency and quality during build, with particular focus on the higher volume programmes
  • Ensure that the build sheet discrepancies are fed back appropriately to material and production control
  • Ensure that the build area is kept clean and tidy
  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are fit for purpose, including calibration requirements
  • Be responsible for maintaining a safe Health & Safety working environment, adhering to COSHH regulations
  • Collect and check parts prior to fitting
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours for Millbrook staff at all times

Essential Criteria

Qualifications
  • Industry-trained with a motor vehicle qualification (NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds)
Experience
  • Mechanical/Electrical/Trim (MET) Technician or Body Panel Technician experience in a vehicle bodyshop, garage or dealership
  • Vehicle conversion experience
  • Fabrication abilities (eg making brackets)
Skills
  • Bench fitting
  • Automotive mechanical/electrical installations
  • Automotive trim remove, replace and modify
  • Ability to read and understand Engineering drawings
  • Manual dexterity and ability to use a wide range of hand tools
  • Problem solver
  • Flexible and adaptable to new situations
  • Ability to fettle trim parts as necessary

  • Full UK driving licence
  • SC clearance or ability to achieve this
