Test Engineer- Battery Test - Propulsion

Job Summary

Reporting to – Manager – Battery Test

A key position within the newly formed Battery Test team reporting into the Millbrook Propulsion division. The position will be responsible for Test Cycle and Operating condition definition and support in line with all Customer requirements, including issue diagnostics and resolution ensuring high quality and timely reporting to the Customer. Contributing to deliver a complete HV Battery Test Service to all Industry clients. This service requires extended shift cover to ensure a continuous operation and minimum prove out duration for the DUT.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provides Engineering support for Millbrook HV Battery Testing technology and operation
  • Defines Test Cycles and Operating conditions based on all Customer requirements/specification (Durability and Abuse)
  • Provides comprehensive issue diagnostics and resolution to all Test activities
  • Ensures high quality and timely Test results reporting to the Customer.
  • Actively involved in any forensic investigation into DUT or Facility failures, understanding root cause and putting measures in place to prevent reoccurrence
  • Applies Continuous Improvement techniques in all activities to ensure ever improving Facilities, processes and Test methods
  • Own Test and Operational derived Risk Assessments
  • Ensures safe Operating Procedures are in place for all HV Battery related activity
  • Ensures safe operation of DUT at all times
  • Shift working (Early / Late or Standard Offset Week)
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours for Millbrook staff at all times




  • Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (2:1 and above or equivalent) (preferred)


  • HV Batteries (preferably Automotive)
  • HV Battery testing (Durability and Abuse)
  • Knowledge of Industry HV Battery testing standards (e.g. Reg100.02, UN38.3, SAE J2380/2464) (preferred)


  • Experience with AVL Puma and/or Kratzer PA Tools (preferred)
  • Experience in LabView programming (preferred)

  • Flexibility to travel as and when required
  • Full UK driving licence
  • SC clearance or ability to achieve this (UK national with residency in the UK for the last 5 years)
  • Willing to undergo a Criminal Disclosure check
