Extended UKAS Accreditation Underlines Millbrook’s Adaptable Safety Testing Capabilities

  • Millbrook receives additional UKAS accreditation for its safety facilities
  • Upgraded ServoSled equipment the first of its kind in the UK
  • Adaptability of facility allows Millbrook to customise testing to meet customers’ specific requirements

Millbrook Group, the leading independent vehicle test, validation and engineering service provider, continues to find its safety facilities in high demand thanks to the market-leading ability to suit a wide range of testing requirements. An extension certificate has been awarded to Millbrook for Seat Belt Anchorage and Pedestrian Impact tests, validating the safety testing work conducted at the Group’s Bedfordshire, UK site. This is in addition to the recent commissioning of the roll over and small offset testing facility for full scale crash, including features believed to be exclusive to Millbrook in Europe.

Millbrook’s existing sled testing capabilities were significantly enhanced with the installation of an upgraded ServoSled last year. This led to improved accuracy and repeatability of tests, including accurate test pulses matching a crash test or CAE pulse. It is the first facility of its kind in the UK, and is supported by recent investment in the latest high speed, high definition camera equipment.

Customers value Millbrook’s ability to deliver tests tailored to their exact requirements – an offering which sets the facility apart from the competition. Millbrook’s team of skilled and experienced engineers also delivers high complexity tests to global legislative standards.

Matt Hillam, chief engineer safety at Millbrook said: “It is important for us and our customers that each test is accurate, reliable, repeatable and fit for purpose. Millbrook’s ServoSled is the best equipment available in the UK to deliver on these aims.”

Millbrook’s crash test and safety capabilities include: corkscrew roll over and small-offset testing (opened in Q3 2016); full scale vehicle crash testing to a wide range of global and corporate standards, a ServoSled laboratory, wide range of test dummies with on-site calibration and certification, airbag deployment (including abuse and misuse), pendulum impact testing, pedestrian impact testing and a seat belt anchorage rig. Testing can be conducted both in the laboratory and on the tracks.
