Millbrook Group Further Develops Technology Park for Bus, Truck and Off-Highway Sector
  • New workshops in construction to offer suppliers and engineering companies an ideal location to undertake development and testing
  • Latest stage supported by £1.2m funding from SEMLEP
  • Large workshops ideally suited for commercial vehicles – wide bays with high access
  • Tenants benefit from central UK location, with on-site access to office space, track facilities and catering

Millbrook Group, the leading independent vehicle testing and validation services provider, has broken ground on the latest phase of its Technology Park, which has been supported by £1.2m of funding from the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP). It adds new workshop facilities for the development and testing of commercial vehicles.

The new development, due for completion in July 2017, will feature three large workshops with wide bays and tall access points, particularly suitable for buses, trucks and off-highway vehicles. Each workshop is 170m2 and includes dedicated office space. Tenants can rent the workshops on a short or long-term basis.

Designed to provide the ideal setting for automotive suppliers and engineering companies, the Technology Park is located at the heart of Millbrook Proving Ground, giving tenants access to Millbrook’s extensive testing facilities and expertise.

The test tracks include a constant speed circuit, city and urban simulation routes, a mile straight, truck slopes, and different surfaces for structural durability, allowing testing to be undertaken in a controlled environment across a wide range of scenarios, gradients and surfaces to suit customers’ exact requirements.

“The three new bays have been designed with larger vehicles in mind, and are perfectly suited to those working with commercial vehicles,” said Martin Hughes, Director – Proving Ground and Technology Park. “We offer our tenants excellent flexibility and complete confidentiality. Alongside that, many find that the location gives them great networking opportunities and the ability to share knowledge and expertise.”

The new development is an important stage in strengthening Millbrook Technology Park’s position as a premier testing and development location for vehicle technology companies. The £1.2m funding from SEMLEP is part of European Structural Investment Funding (ESIF), and has been made available to Millbrook to support sustainable growth across the region.

Alex Burns, Millbrook Group President, concluded: “Through the Technology Park we are giving vehicle technology companies of all sizes the facilities and environment within which they can successfully develop their products and services. We offer outstanding customer service, backed with testing services expertise. Our location in central Bedfordshire makes the site an ideal hub for HQs and Technology Centres.”
