Millbrook’s Large Climatic Chamber enables the testing of military, commercial and public service vehicles to military and industry standards, and customer specifications. It tests how vehicles perform in even the most extreme temperatures found across the globe.

  • Internal dimensions: 13.7× 5.7m × 6m
  • Main vehicle door opening: h 5.1m × w 5.0m
  • Maximum temperature: +85°C
  • Minimum temperature: -60°C
  • Ramp rate: 0.5°C (average)
  • Humidity: 3% RH to 98% RH
  • Solar array compatibility

The Large Climatic Chamber complements Millbrook Group's hot and cold weather testing capabilities. Its proving ground in Finland, Test World, offers indoor and outdoor testing facilities with guaranteed natural snow and ice all year round. At its proving ground in the UK, Millbrook has a range of temperature chambers for component and full vehicle testing, as well as a Variable Temperature Emissions Chamber for heavy duty climatic emissions chassis dynamometer testing.

The size of the Chamber allows for limited movement, enabling brake and parking component testing at extreme temperatures.

Changeable weather conditions or extreme climates can have a considerable impact on a wide range of vehicle functions, including door seals, materials used in the vehicle such as plastics, and systems such as air conditioning. Millbrook can test for vehicle start reliability at extreme temperatures, as well as carrying out functional testing to help ensure reliability of components.
