Business Development Manager

Location: UTAC Millbrook, Bedford

Reporting to: Sales and Marketing VP with a dotted line to Global Events Director

Job Description

It is envisaged that the successful candidate will possess management potential and will take the lead in the expansion of the sales team, leading to the position of Business Development Manager.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Providing support to the Head of Events and Events Operations Manager as necessary including providing weekly briefing sales activity
  • Increase the sales revenue margins of the business through establishing new business opportunities and developing existing client relationships
  • Ensuring CRM is updated and sales process systems are adhered to
  • Sourcing information in support of quotations, chasing prospects and updating databases, working to evaluate and define strategy from a marketing perspective with the team
  • Work towards achieving departmental and company objectives
  • Participate in regular sales meetings as appropriate
  • Business development lead for large exhibitions
  • Developing sales strategies that identify prospective and existing clients to target and generate new business
  • Researching the target market, writing and presenting creative client proposals and developing marketing material
  • Evolve the expansion of the Business Development department


Person Specification

Core competencies:
  • Proven background in business development within the Events industry
  • Ability to deal with clients at all levels
  • Knowledge of automotive sector
  • Computer literate with accurate keyboard skills and eye for detail
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to confidentially present to individuals and groups
  • Creative and professional sales approach with exceptional negotiation skills
Personal Behaviours:
  • Confident and energetic with a proactive nature and the ability to use initiative
  • Strong team player who is motivated and flexible
  • Hold a current UK Driving Licence
  • Willing to undergo a Criminal Records Bureau check
  • Working Environment: Office
  • Travel Required: Travel as required within the UK and mainland Europe
