Job Description

Reporting to – Senior Manager – UK Test Services Support

As a Calibration Technician, you would be responsible for conducting a variety of instrument calibrations to ensure the validity and traceability of measurements in compliance with ISO 17025:2017 requirements. The role will involve following procedures and ensuring compliance with client contractual and KPI obligations. On-the-job training and support will be provided.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Calibration of a wide range of measurement instruments in line with ISO 17025:2017 standard and customer requirements
  • Achievement of agreed training objectives
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Assist with continuous improvement projects
  • Document and maintain existing standards, processes, KPIs and record keeping
  • Undertake analysis of results, including statements of conformity or opinions and interpretations
  • To report, review and seek authorisation of results including Customer communication
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours for UTAC colleagues at all times


Person Specification

  • Formal qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (preferably electrical / metrology based qualification at HNC/HND or Degree level)
  • A basic understanding of ISO 17025:2017, ISO 9001
  • A basic understanding of measurement uncertainty
  • Competent and experienced in relevant technical disciplines
  • Practical, hands-on and disciplined approach to work and timekeeping
  • Competent IT skills (mainly MS Office including Word & Excel)
  • Good mathematical and statistical understanding
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem solving skills
