Sled Technician – Safety

Reporting to: Supervisor - Sled

Overview

A vacancy has become available within the Safety department for a Mechanical/Electrical Technician. The position will be a 40-hour, shift based role with the successful candidate reporting to the Supervisor - Sled.

The role covers delivery of test day activity, encompassing both mechanical fitting duties in addition to use of bespoke photographic and data acquisition software for which training will be provided.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Installation of test bucks onto a variety of test apparatus
  • Fitment of seats, instrument panels, accelerometers, cameras and other test equipment to the test buck
  • Maintenance of test equipment
  • Taking of Digital stills pre & post test
  • Downloading of Digital stills
  • Setting up and downloading the data acquisition systems
  • Setting up and downloading the digital video camera systems
  • Installation and rework of Anthropomorphic Test Devices (Test Dummies)
  • Pre and post test vehicle measurements with 3d measurement arm
  • Support 5s initiatives
  • Rig build and fabrication
  • Forklifting of test vehicles and components
  • Undertake analysis of results, including statements of conformity or opinions and interpretations
  • To report, review and provide authorisation of results
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours for Millbrook staff at all times

 

Person Specification

Qualifications:
  • A technical apprenticeship, NVQ level 2 or appropriate experience via time served
Core competencies:
  • Strong mechanical skill set
  • Proficient electrical understanding
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem solving skills
Advantageous Qualities:
  • Good mechanical skills in a technical environment
  • Able to work from procedures
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Experience driving a fork lift truck would be useful
  • Experience in fabrication would be useful
