Security Manager

Location: Millbrook, Bedfordshire

Job Summary

Reporting to – Central Operations Manager the position requires a security professional who is able to maintain high standards of performance, discipline and presence in addition possess a proactive approach to security.

Role Responsibilities

  • To lead, motivate and support security staff to ensure maximum efficiency and an effective security provision to Millbrook
  • Ensure the security team is suitably staffed 24/7, 365 days a year
  • Ensure guests first impressions of Millbrook are of an exceptional standard
  • Protection of Company premises, assets and personnel
  • Update and review Security Polices and Emergency Procedures accordingly and circulate
  • Ensuring Millbrook’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) training is at a suitable standard to maintain effective emergency cover
  • Completing reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorised persons or unusual occurrences, escalate as required
  • Ensure Security’s compliance with Millbrook’s IMS at all times
  • Responsible for operational performance against agreed KPIs
  • Providing cover of main phone switchboard and Radio Control during non-standard hours
  • Be responsible for the planning and delivery of Security Officer training courses as appropriate
  • Managing and developing a professional and motivated team will be a key measure of success
  • Carry out staff appraisals
  • Inspire positive and professional ‘can do’ attitude to all other team members
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times
  • Implement a system of constant business improvement throughout the department
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours for Millbrook staff at all times

Essential Criteria


  • Good general level of education
  • SIA Licence (preferred)
  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management (desirable)


  • A minimum of three years Security experience
  • Experience in a customer-focused role
  • Proof of knowledge within Fire Services or Plant protection
  • Supervisory skills and ability to lead and motivate a team


  • Team building, leadership & motivational skills
  • Ability to assess situations and plan accordingly
  • Excellent IT, written and verbal skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both staff and guests
  • A good knowledge of customer care
  • A confident approach and ability to deal with difficult/confrontational people
  • The ability to work with technical equipment (e.g. CCTV and radios)
