Undergraduate Engineer – Propulsion Engines

Job Summary

As an undergraduate in the ETC department you will be working alongside a more senior member of the team who will mentor and support your development as an engine test engineer. This can include being responsible for a customer engine test programme from initial install to test completion.

Role Responsibilities

  • Obtain an understanding of all H&S and quality procedures and ensure they are being adhered to
  • Potential for ownership of a customer engine test programme
  • Be able to work autonomously with a variety of test bed software and measuring equipment 
  • Analyse and interpret engine testbed data for both engine fault finding and ensuring high data quality
  • Generate engine installation packs and schematics for accurate test bed setups
  • Track project efficiency and maintain project related invoicing
  • Potential to work with CAD and CAE for rig component design requirements
  • Undertake analysis of results, including statements of conformity or opinions and interpretations
  • To report, review and provide authorisation of results
  • Work well within a team environment 
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours for Millbrook staff at all times

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Studying for BEng/MEng Automotive / Mechanical Degree. (preferred)

Experience (desirable)

  • Strong understanding of gasoline and diesel engine mechanical fundamentals
  • Previous “hands-on” experience with engines or electric drive units is favourable

Skills

  • Ability to learn from others and obtain information in a high pressure environment
  • CAD skills favourable but not essential
  • Good understanding of H&S practices

  • Flexibility to travel as and when required
  • Full UK driving licence
  • SC clearance or ability to achieve this (UK national with residency in the UK for the last 5 years)
