COVID-19 - Service Update

Crash test dummy certification and calibration laboratory at Millbrook

At Millbrook, we continue to refine and improve our response to the coronavirus pandemic and this note provides an update on our situation.

Our two highest priorities remain the safety of everyone at our sites and providing the best customer service that we can.

We have now had nearly three weeks working under the UK Government’s rules to reduce the contact between people in order to slow the spread of the virus. Our employees who are able to work from home have settled into a routine of doing so and our IT infrastructure has proved resilient to the challenge that this has posed. Some staff are self-isolating and a few are sheltering at home, with the full support of their colleagues. The majority of our staff in the UK are attending work at the Bedford and Leyland sites and have adapted their working practices to observe social distancing and enhanced cleaning and hygiene practices.

I am have been very impressed by the positive attitude and flexibility of all of our employees and I am very grateful to them for this. As a result of this, we are able to offer practically all of our test services to our customers, while respecting the new rules.

We have used available technology to keep people distanced from one-another, for example to allow driver training without the instructor being in the vehicle or to allow customers and certification authorities who would usually be present to observe tests remotely.

There are one or two areas where we have had to suspend operations because we have not yet found a way to operate with adequate risk reductions in place. We will continue to innovate to solve these problems and will recommence these operations when it is safe to do so.

I am very grateful to all of our customers for their understanding and assistance as we have all adapted to the new environment. I am pleased that we are able to offer service in almost every part of our business in the current challenging environment.

Going forward, we will continue to monitor the advice from the UK Government closely and to modify our operations accordingly. We will always put the safety of our staff first and we will continue to operate as long we consider it safe to do so.
