Wheelchair Safety Testing

During the test, the wheelchair is occupied with an appropriately sized ballast Anthropomorphic Test Device (ATD). Millbrook also has a surrogate base to allow for seating unit testing under wheelchair safety standards such as ISO 7176/19, ISO 10542, ANSI/RESNA WC-19 and ISO 16840. Millbrook can also test against the Publicly Accessible Specification (PAS900).

Detailed measurements are taken prior to testing to ensure all of the requirements of the test standard are met. These measurements enable video tracking, using 1,000 frame per second high-speed cameras. Footage is reviewed post-test to determine whether the wheelchair and occupant have remained in the required space envelope.

A detailed test report, including pass/fail criteria, is then provided to the customer. Millbrook can test a variety models, from lightest canvas backed wheelchair to the heaviest powered wheelchair.

WTORS Testing

Millbrook also tests the safety of complete WTORS, including the floor mounted tracking, or single wheelchair tie-down and occupant restraint components.
